Mrs.  Casey - Inclusion Paraprofessional

I have had several students and staff suggest that we recognize Mrs. Casey for her dedication and service to our town and our children.    This is her 36th year working in the school district!  She will be retiring at the end of this year.   That is amazing!   Thank you for all that you continue to do for our school!  What grade/ subject are you currently teaching?

I currently am an Inclusion Paraprofessional in grades 9-12 at the high school, assisting my students in various English, history, science and math classes.

How long have you been a teacher? How long at NB? I started volunteering at the elementary school when my daughter was in second grade and my son was in kindergarten. In 1986, I was hired as a high school teacher’s aide where I remained for many years until I “moved across the parking lot” to the elementary school working with Mrs. Farr and Mrs. Lyons in the 3rd grade. When the new high school opened I joined Mrs. Mills to work with high school Inclusion students once again. Where did you grow up? I grew up here in North Brookfield on St. John Street and graduated with the Class of 1977.

Any family you want to share?  I am a very proud mom of two adult children, my son who lives in West Brookfield and my daughter who lives in North Carolina. My greatest joy comes from my 4 grandbabies, 3 boys and 1 girl. What is your favorite hobby outside of school? Place to travel? Thing to do? When I am not in school I spend the majority of my time with my family, especially my grandsons, RJ and Remi, who live in West Brookfield. I also enjoy spending time at my seasonal camper, gardening and reading at the beach.

Favorite thing about NB schools? Our students! I have had the unique opportunity to experience NBPS as a student, the parent of elementary students, one of whom still credits Mrs. Sokol for their success, and finally as a staff member. I love “my school” and especially the young people in it. I am also grateful to work alongside our amazingly dedicated teachers and witness firsthand the relationships that are being built between the staff and our awesome students. Any recent accomplishments or certification you would like to share?

After 36 years, I will be retiring at the end of this school year. I have found spending my days here very rewarding and will miss it!
