Read about the organizations, attend a meeting, and find your passion!  Volunteering builds community and increases socializing which in turn creates new friendships and bonds while reducing loneliness, Volunteer experiences improve school and college capabilities and provides better job prospects. Additionally, volunteering improves self-esteem while reducing depressions, PTSD, anxiety and other symptoms of mental health.

  • Fuel Assistance for North Brookfield Residents

    North Brookfield Hearts for Heat is a community based and community driven charitable organization that raises funds to be used to purchase fuel for qualified applicants in our town. 100% of donated funds will be used to meet the home heating requirements of North Brookfield families who need support.

    • In order to be considered for assistance, you must have an open application with Worcester Community Action Council (WCAC)
    • All requested documentation must accompany application. We may contact you for further clarification. Incomplete documentation may result in a delay.
    • Applications must be received by April 15th. An extension may be made at the discretion of the board due to extended cold weather.

     

    WCAC can help with emergencies.  Please anticipate delays in processing applications and payments due to the federal cuts in program causing staffing shortages. Typical annual benefits for fuel assistance are drastically lower this year due to these cuts as well. Heating-related emergencies will be prioritized. Heating-related emergencies include: No heat. If you are heat included in your rent you should contact your landlord. A termination notice from a utility. Less than 1/8 of a tank of oil. Less than three days’ supply of other deliverable fuels.
